YDM Announces MDP Candidate Forum
On March 1st when the Executive Committee of the Maryland Democratic Party met to elect an Interim Chair we all pledged ourselves to an open and transparent process leading up to the full State Committee Meeting. This process would include an opportunity for members of the committee and the public to hear from candidates on their vision for the party.
The Young Democrats of Maryland are committed to ensuring our generation as a seat at the table. To that end we are proud to announce that we will, in conjunction with our partners, host the first MDP Chair Forum, April 1st during the YDM Statewide Convention. With Larry Hogan in the Governor's Office and Donald Trump in the White House a strong Party Chair is vitally important for rebuilding the Maryland Democratic Party.
The forum will be moderated by Derrick Plummer, a Vice President at
Edelman, a communications firm in Washington, DC. Prior to his work with Edelman Derrick served as assistant communications director for the United Food and Commercial Workers Union International (UFCW), press secretary for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development during the first term of the Obama Administration, on the Kerry/Edwards 2004 presidential campaign, as a regional press secretary and director of African American media affairs for the Democratic National Committee, and as communications director for Congresswoman Gwen Moore (D-WI). He resides with his family in Bowie, MD.
