I am running for my final term as President because we still have work to do. We need to focus on stabilizing our chapters, build up our reserves, and this term focus on turning the major forward movement we've made electing young people to public office into action and solutions.
Candidate for President
Rev. Joseph Kitchen
My PLEDGE as your Executive Vice President to increase awareness, membership intake & involvement amongst young democrats throughout Maryland by assisting the President in his/her absence, serving on all standing/select committees as well as leading the Rules and Bylaws Committee. As member of YDM since 2012 I understand the needs of YDM members and will commit myself wholeheartedly to the best of my ability to serve and uphold the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Candidate for Executive Vice President
My name is Joshua Crockett. I am a lifelong Marylander and Democrat. Since 2017, I have served as the YDM Vice President of Membership and the Executive Vice President of the Baltimore City Young Democrats. As the 2020 elections quickly approach, the strength of our movement must be rooted in engaging programming and collaboration between local chapters. As I pursue a second of YDM leadership, it is my sincere desire to prioritize the unity of our thriving network of young Democrats.
Candidate for Vice President, Programs
I have enjoyed serving as an Assistant VP for the past two years, but I feel that I am ready to take a more active role in YDM as a member of the board. My biggest strengths are in my interpersonal skills, and I feel that these skills will allow me to represent the organization at local events. I am also a well-organized and punctual person, and this will allow me to effectively help charter new chapters and keep current chapters in good standing.
Candidate for Vice President, Membership
Dr. Tyler Beck
I am a lifelong Marylander and Democrat. In my day job, I am an attorney, specializing in healthcare litigation. And for the past two years, I have served as Communications Director and Acting Secretary of the Young Democrats of Maryland. I also serve as a precinct official in Montgomery County. I've been active in Maryland politics for years, advocating for progressive policies like the Fight for 15, universal healthcare, and criminal justice reform at the state and local levels. If elected, I will be a fierce advocate for YDM, ensuring that the young Democrats in Maryland not only have a seat at the table, but that our priorities become the priorities of the state party and every democratic lawmaker in Annapolis. To do this, I will work closely with the local chapters, build relationships with lawmakers in Annapolis (as well as our party leadership and local elected officials), and form coalitions with other organizations to coordinate our efforts to pass legislation of interest to YDM's membership.
Candidate for Vice President, Political Affairs
My name is Aqsa Siddique from Charles County, Maryland. I am a strong political youth activist, who has tirelessly pushed for the equal treatment of women, and minorities. In June 2018, I was arrested outside the Office of Paul Ryan, protesting the Family Separation Policy at the US-Mexico border. I have served as an intern for the Maryland Democratic Party for the 2016, and 2018 elections. I have also been a strong advocate in my local school system, by organizing a county-wide protest on March 14, 2018, one month after the school shooting in Parkdale, Florida, pushing for common sense gun control laws. Additionally, I served as a Page to the Maryland General Assembly during the 2019 Legislative Session - working directly with lawmakers. I am ready to take the next step in fighting for the equal treatment of all. I am ready to advocate on behalf of all people, and it is my hope that I am selected to be the voice for all through the Young Democrats of Maryland.
